We now have a new genetic line at Spruce Haven Farms!

Liberty Saul:

Our Cashmere Goat Herd

We purchased our original starter herd from Diane Thompson’s  Riversong herd, in Nazko, BC. We where so impressed with them that when the herd came up for sale in the fall of 2007, we just had to bring them home!

We are committed at preserving the quality the cashmere produced by these amazing animals while exploring other marketing opportunities for the herd. We are thrilled to have Diane Thompson as our personal mentor and consultant. Her years experience knowledge on breeding quality cashmere will be a valuable asset to guide us in this up and coming Canadian industry.

Our Does

We presently have over 60 cashmere does in our breeding herd. Most of them supply us with a good commercial cashmere and are also wonderful mothers to our new “kids” on the block! Let us introduce you to some of the more renowned residents of the farm.

RSC EVE

eve

RSC Eve

Eve received top honors in numerous competitions in 2008 and 2009

including:

- Champion Spanish doe and Reserve Champion Commercial doe at the Red Deer Westerner Grande

 - Champion    Cashmere doe, Reserve Champion Commercial doe as well as Supreme Champion doe at Farmfair   International in Edmonton, AB.

RSC Flutter

At first look, she may not look as stunning as Eve, but looks can be deceiving! Take a peek at some of Flutter’s achievement in 2008:

- Reserve Champion Doe (fleece) at the NWCA in California

- 2nd in class (fleece) at the ECA, Virginia

- 1st in class (fleece) at Farmfair International, Edmonton

RSC Ebony

Ebony is another amazing cashmere goat with a big fine fleece and great style.

-3rd place at the ECA

-Grand Champion doe (fleece), Farmfair  International, Edmonton

-Best fleece in show, Farmfair International, Edmonton

RSC Gabrielle

Again, a great fleece and confirmation… A real dual purpose animal.

-3rd in class (fleece) at the NWCA, California

-1st in class (fleece) at the ECA, Virginia

-2nd in class (fleece) at Farmfair International, Edmonton

-2nd in class (live show) at farmfair International

These are only some of our “treasures” here at Spruce Haven Farms but we now must make room for our herd sires.
